A South Florida child abuse prevention group is protesting the Who's upcoming appearance at the 2010 Superbowl. ChildAbuseWatch.net, based in Pompano Beach, objects to Pete Townshend performing because of his 2003 arrest by British police on suspicion of possessing child pornography. Although Townshend was cleared of charges, having only accessed internet sites while conducting research on child abuse for a project, he was put on a watch list by the British police for 5 years.
So far, the Who have not returned phone calls regarding this issue. They will play on February 7, 2010, at the LandShark Stadium in Miami, during the half-time intermission.
