After nearly 50 years as the backbone of the Rolling Stones, Charlie Watts is rumored to have finally made a decision to quit the band that has been his life since 1963. Charlie, now 68 years old, has been attempting to leave since 2006, and had to be persuaded to join the band on the Bigger Bang tour. As Mick Jagger works on upcoming Stones' projects, Charlie may take his final, and well-deserved bow. Of the original band - Jagger, Richards, Jones, Wyman and Watts - Charlie's departure leaves only Jagger and Richards as original members of the seminal band. No official announcement has been made, and in fact band spokespeople are denying it, but a replacement is being mulled.
The source of the story - Australia's "Undercover" - is generally regarded as credible.
