One of the great blues impresarios, Cliff Antone, is gone. Austin, Texas police were called to his residence at 1:15 this morning. They say there appears to be nothing suspicious about his death. He was 56.
It can be truly said that without Cliff Antone's incredible devotion to blues music - which began in the early 70s when he provided a club in Austin for the great Chicago blues players to appear - before going on to single-handedly promote local Austin area blues players, including Stevie Ray Vaughn, and the Fabulous Thunderbirds, Austin would not be the music mecca it is today. PLEASE help me towards my 2006 American Heart Association goal: $5600!!
In 2004, I was able to raise $1590 -- in a WEEK. Last year, I collected $1820 -- ALL AFTER Hurricane Katrina when donation dollars were being dedicated elsewhere.
This year, I am making my goal $5600 -- because my friend Cliff Antone died a few months ago -- at 56. I know with your generosity AND help to FORWARD this email on and on, I will make my goal -- which coincidentally is 56 days away from today (Sept. 2). Cliff was of course the owner of the legendary blues/rock club Antone's in Austin, TX.
We are ALL at risk, and we ALL know someone who has been affected by heart disease and/or stroke.
You can help me reach my goal by making a donation online. Click on the link below and you will be taken to my personal donation page where you can make a secure online credit card donation. The American Heart Association's online fundraising website has a minimum donation amount of $25.00. If you prefer to donate less, you can do so by sending a check directly to me.
Your donation will help fight our nation’s No. 1 and No. 3 killers—heart disease and stroke. You are making a difference. Thank you for your support.

AND please feel free to forward to your friends!

It is unfortunate that he died at only 56.
Cliff Antone, rest in peace.
God bless.
