So, what's going on this week so far?
Well, Rod's had his sixth with his fourth, (child and (future) wife, that is) at 60. The newest Stewart, a boy, was born on Sunday. Rod and new Mum, Penny Lancaster, will marry at his Florida home on December 5, when his divorce from Rachel Hunter becomes final. Congrats, Rodders and Pen!
Elton is getting married to his long-time partner, Canadian film producer David Furnish, on December 21. The British ceremony is to be simple and private for family members only, but intrepid EJ has promised a big bash after for his numerous friends. Elton recently told the Daily Express, "I think I would like Lulu as my maid of honour and Victoria Beckham as my best man!"
Rant on the Rock 'n' Roll of Fame inductees - this whole thing is becoming a joke. Miles Davis? He'd have a fit. He's not rock 'n' roll. Blondie? The Sex Pistols? These two barely paid their dues, and were mostly creations of managers and producers. Lynyrd Skynyrd certainly qualify, after years of hard slogging on the road, playing their own brand of Southern rock to appreciative fans and continuing to keep the faith in the face of enormous odds. But as the qualifications now go back to bands who began in the early 80s, what are we going to get from here on out? I shudder to think. Any thoughts, anyone? Here's the link to the RRHOF.
The selection of Miles Davis is being defended by the fact that he influenced some rock musicians. And now the rappers are getting their dander up, specifically Grandmaster Flash, who is laboring under a false sense of entitlement, imo. Most people have never heard of him.

I would agree that the line between Rock and Roll and everything else has slimmed down in their eyes. Interesting post, and neat blog.

Most rap didn't start until 1985 or so, so they have to wait another 5 years for NWA and the early guys to even be considered.

Rod's 6th with his fourth?! Congrats! They were on Larry King not too long ago and she seems very down to earth.
Elton and David - Congrats! I think David has a lot to do with Elton staying sober. Can't wait to see the photos.
RRHOF - I read an article today that some rappers feel left out. Waaahhh. My first thought was, this is the ROCK 'n' Roll HOF. Did I miss something?
