Hi Dave - thanks for the comments. I'm not sure what Gertrude's involvement was with LSE, though it may have been through a friendship with GBS. I'm certainly going to do some more investigation now! I've done some googling and am coming up with nothing, but I'll certainly correct the 'founding' info! Derek certainly attended LSE and this was arranged by Gertrude, in some capacity, and he then went on to sit on the Board.

Great story, Sally, but the LSE was founded in 1895 by Sidney & Beatrice Webb & George Bernard Shaw. Gertrude Stein was only 21 at the time.
