Gordon Waller, the other half of British vocal duo Peter and Gordon, died today of cardiac arrest. He was 64.
Peter and Gordon enjoyed early success on the coattails of their association with the Beatles. Paul McCartney was the then-boyfriend of Peter's actress sister, Jane Asher, living in the Asher's London home.
Peter and Gordon recorded four Beatles-penned songs, after which Peter became James Taylor's producer for James' Apple album and thereafter also produced Linda Ronstadt .
Gordon Waller was a rock rebel, similar in style to John Lennon. Here they are in Germany, performing the "Simon and Garfinkel" song Homeward Bound.
